I just nuked Gothic Greyhawk

Death Frost Doom / Spoilers

We just "finished" Death Frost Doom this evening; most of the characters survived, but will Gothic Greyhawk?  13,000 ravening undead were unleashed from Death Mountain to stumble towards the lonely village of Mittleberg and its surrounding farmlands.

The characters have sworn oaths to guide an ancient vampire to "safety", then it's all up for grabs.  Their debate on the next course of action has already started.

The next campaign journal should be pretty interesting.

Edit:  here is the game recap.

  1. My group has yet to release doom on the countryside during their current foray into the DFD but it's only a matter of time.

  3. It was a good time. I figure'd it warranted a recap here on the blog, in addition to the usual Dragonsfoot post:

It's not every day you get to see 13,000 hungry dead descend on your campaign's home town.

  4. My players did this too. It paid off huge. I was able to create a bunch of spin off adventures for the players to work through as the undead progressed across the countryside. The characters found another similar crypt under the capital city several months later in game time. They did it again. Currently half the city is burning, various factions are using the chaos as cover to kill each other adding to the chaos.

  5. Having bought this module in the recent sale, I'm really really wanting to run it soon. This post makes me want to run it even more! I see this module (having only read it and various play reports) as our generation's Tomb of Horrors (don't tell James I said that, it may swell his head).
